Westly A. Bailey, M.D. , is a certified Family Medicine Physician who is fellowship-trained in Primary Care Sports Medicine. He provides non-operative treatments for ailments of the muscles, bones, and joints. He also provides treatment for sports-related medical conditions.
Dr. Bailey received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Duke University. As an undergraduate, he worked at the Duke Clinical Research Institute as an intern in the Center for Clinical and Genetic Economics. Dr. Bailey earned his Medical Degree from Duke University. Under the guidance of Drs. John Guyton and Eric Westman, he authored a study which identified correlates of weight loss in patients attending a lipid clinic. Dr. Bailey subsequently completed Family Medicine residency at Emory University, where he served as a Chief Resident.
Dr. Bailey completed a Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He trained under the direction of Drs. Karl Fields, Sara Neal, Dominic McKinley, and Timothy Draper. As a fellow, Dr. Bailey provided medical care to pediatric and adult patients. He covered a Division 1 university and he continued to provide care as a Family Physician. Dr. Bailey also trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and the construction of custom foot orthotics. He lectured on various sports medicine topics and he has presented at both the regional and national levels. Dr. Bailey also co-authored a book chapter on Exercise and Chronic Disease.
Dr. Bailey enjoys treating patients of all backgrounds. He has served as a medical physician for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. His passions include weight management counseling and gait analysis.
Dr. Bailey’s memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
